The city of Oldenburg will be your home base to explore the surrounding countryside. Also the likewise interesting areas of East Frisia and the Oldenburg Munster land with the cities of Cloppenburg, Vechta, Damme and other famous emigrant towns are only one hour driving time from here. And also the history of the North German Lloyd waits for you to be discovered in the neighboring cities of Bremen and Bremerhaven.

We have put together a package for the individual traveler to provide accommodation, transportation, maps, valuable information and the tools to make your stay enjoyable and interesting. The former Grand-Dutchy of Oldenburg sent numerous emigrants to America. Many of them ploughed the Western Plains, built the railroads and canals and farmed the Midwest. Popular destinations were Nebraska, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana but also Texas and other states. Among the famous emigrants was Friedrich Ernst, father of German emigration to Texas.
